King Tides: A super full moon will cause higher than normal tides now through November 10th as the super full moon coincides with another King Tide this week.
King Tides occur when the moon is the closest to the Earth in orbit and aligned with the Earth and sun. They are also the highest high tides of the year.
What kind of impact might I expect along the coast?
- Tidal flooding along the coast, in particular in low-lying areas
- Some roads in our Town may experience flooding, even on sunny days
- If a storm occurs at this time, increased levels of tidal flooding and coastal erosion may occur.
- Lower than normal low tides will also occur.
